ICT4D, Education is the constant variable.

Avallain Foundation wants to focus on those left behind due to emergency and change. Circumstances may vary anywhere in the world but education is the only constant variable that can be the key to going back to society, the community or the labour market. Education is no longer limited to the classroom and the new technologies and the internet enable lifelong learning access to it at a broader scale.

With this vision in mind, Avallain Foundation makes use of its knowledge of the ecosystem and its expertise in the use of the new technologies in education, to implement projects that unlock education in four main areas; Child Education, Emergency Education, Literacy and the United States.

Child Education

Giving children access to high-quality education is a key step to make a difference. In order to do so the Foundation aims to focus on both public and private schools especially low-cost schools and those in non-formal settings such as slums. a-ACADEMY has already reached 15.000 children mainly in the slums of Nairobi and soon will be reaching 10.000 more.

Emergency Education

Avallain Foundation wants to pay special attention to children and youth that find themselves in abnormally adverse conditions such as displacement, war or neglect. Providing education to these groups can ensure that they are not left behind with a severe lack of skills after the resolution of their situation and they can integrate in society and the labour market.

Literacy

Understanding the power of education and the need for basic literacy skills, which include digital literacy, Avallain Foundation also wants to keep youth and adults without these skills in its horizon by providing embedded digital content relevant to their specific situations and that can tackle their immediate needs to function in society.

United States

As a US-based foundation, Avallain Foundation also wants to get involved in the educational needs of its most immediate groups that might have been left out by the system such as low-income families, immigrants and minority ethnic groups. Acquiring the necessary skills can enable these groups to both integrate in society and make a difference in their communities.
